Brown Trout Mad River Float Trips
Hunting large predatory Brown Trout with Modern Streamer tactics is the most exciting way to target this fish in Ohio. This technique of “Modern Streamer” fishing was popularized by Kelly Galloup and Russ Maddin over 25 years ago. If your goal is to catch a true giant, one of those elusive big Browns that ARE in the Mad, throwing large and articulated streamers in the right conditions is one of the best ways to accomplish that goal.

Knowing when to go matters just as much as the techniques and flies you'll use. Periods of high water are excellent windows, as well as overcast and rainy days. This game can be played year round, it just depends on when you get dealt the right hand and how you play it. That said, certain seasons tend to offer more consistent high water and favorable weather patterns, giving you the best odds.
Gear is provided on all guide trips. If you want to bring your own gear, we can discuss and go over what you have and if it is suitable for what we will be doing. Having gear rigged up the right way is critical to giving you the best chance for success and having an enjoyable time on the water.
